Dental anxiety is common in people of all ages. Unfortunately, it does a pretty good job of keeping people from seeking the dental care they need.
We’d love to change all that.
If you suffer from fear of the dental chair, an overactive gag reflex, severe muscle tension, or just general nervousness about healthcare procedures, then Cape Vista Dental has one amenity that you might be particularly interested in: sedation dentistry.
What Is Dental Relaxation?
Sedation is an add-on that you can request for just about any dental procedure that we do here at Cape Vista.
When you come in for your appointment, we will administer a safe and effective dental sedative which can relax your muscles and your anxiety. It doesn’t replace any aspect of your treatment. All anesthetics and tools will still be used just as before. Sedation is simply an added benefit to help you through it all.
Laughing gas is one of our relaxation methods of choice at Cape Vista Dental. In fact, it has been safely used in dental procedures for well over a hundred years.
Here are just some of the reasons that it’s pretty amazing:
- Laughing gas is a natural anxiolytic. In other words, it reduces anxiety.
- Laughing gas takes effect almost immediately.
- It is extremely safe and non-allergenic.
- Humans can’t metabolize laughing gas. That means it has no lingering effects after use.
- The effects of laughing gas wear off within minutes. That means you can safely drive yourself home after using it.
If you suffer from terror of the dental chair, laughing gas may be just the right option for you.
If laughing gas isn’t the right or most effective choice for you, we also offer an orally-taken medication. This form of dental relaxant works very much the same as laughing gas, with one major difference:
Oral medication does metabolize, which means that it wears off much more slowly. If you choose this method of sedation, you’ll need to arrange for a ride home after your dental appointment.
Dr. Yoon’s Closet
Laughing gas isn’t the only add-on available to you here at Cape Vista. You’ve got Dr. Yoon’s entire closet to choose from as well.
Who do you want working on your teeth today? A stormtrooper? Iron Man? Belle’s Beast? Whatever will make your visit better is what you’ll get. All you have to do is ask.
